We Need to Do Better

The Heart of Autistic Faith

People with disabilities are largely overlooked by both the church and the medical world, with up to a 25× higher suicide risk.

That’s why God led us to start Autistic Faith — a place where they can find practical help and hope in their darkest moments.

On-Demand Training Videos

#1 Disability Awareness Training

General education and tips for EVERYONE to learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder [ASD], Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder [ADHD], and Intellectual + Developmental Disabilities [IDD] (~17% of population) so that EVERY volunteer is ready to love families with neuro-divergent brains!

#2  Buddy System Training

Specialized training to empower any volunteer in confidently providing 1-on-1 support for VIP's (often people with intellectual-developmental disability [IDD], with high support needs), including different instructional scenarios such as how to manage challenging meltdowns and sensory overload.

#3 Security Team Training

Equips safety volunteers to communicate clearly and respond appropriately when medical or behavioral support is needed. Focus areas include distinguishing behavioral crises from security threats, de-escalating sensory overload, hyperactivity countermeasures, and emergency protocols.

#4 Sensory Adaptation Training

We break down the ins and outs of sensory adaptive environments with simple, practical adjustments like softer lighting, quieter zones, visual schedules, flexible seating for movement, and clearly labeled spaces. You don't need a full rennovation, just little tweaks that speak calm and inclusion.

#5 Advanced Program Recommendations

Got the basics down? Great! Now we'll teach you (and provide the content for) advanced programs like developing and retaining volunteers, parent relief nights, parent educational nights, prayer partners, and support groups (yes, plural).

How Do We Get More Volunteers?!

There are 3 key ways we address this problem:

#1 Engage

1) We create short, upbeat promo videos shown after worship that paint a warm, inviting picture of what it’s like to serve in disability ministry. These clips help demystify and normalize a role many once found intimidating.

#2 Equip

2) We train volunteers to feel confident in providing 1-on-1 support. From handling meltdowns to supporting non-verbal communication, we walk through real-life scenarios so no one feels unprepared.

#3 Energize

3) We teach leaders how to keep the momentum alive: regular check-ins, thoughtful scheduling to prevent burnout, and fun group outings that build community and honor their service.
